Alibaba’s Jack Ma Seeks To Recruit U.S. Engineers, U.S. Exporters

Our man in New York reports that Jack Ma, chief executive of e-commerce auction site Alibaba, has been talking up the prospects  of American entrepreneurs selling into China via his company. He says he has talked with U.S. companies like eBay, Yahoo!, Google, GE, Microsoft and Apple about prospective partnerships. He also said that Alibaba plans to hire an additional 5,000 staff this year, in 2009, including U.S. engineers he hopes to bring to China. His message of hope: “Wonderful times have terrible companies; terrible times have wonderful companies.”
